The osteoarthritis sample collection consists of DNA samples from participants with knee and/or hip osteoarthritis. Participants were 40 years of age or above at time of recruitment, of white north European ethnicity and were recruited in the UK. No control samples were collected.
The samples were collected for the arcOGEN study, involving a UK wide consortium funded by Arthritis Research UK. Samples were collected from 11 centres across the UK in order to identify the genetic determinants of osteoarthritis (OA) by carrying out a large-scale genome-wide association scan.
