The breast cancer sample collection consists of DNA samples from sister pairs diagnosed with breast cancer between the ages of 18 and 60 years, testing negative for BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene faults. Ethnicity was not restricted.
Participants were recruited from 6 genetic centres in the UK: Guy’s Hospital (London); University Hospital Southampton; St George’s Hospital (London); St Mary’s Hospital (Manchester); University Hospital of Wales Cardiff; and Addenbrooke’s Hospital (Cambridge). Participants range between 25 and 60 years of age.
The samples were collected under the leadership of Professor Ellen Solomon (Kings College London).
