Diabetes Genomics

The diabetes genomics sample collection consists of DNA samples from diabetic patients living within the Salford area attending diabetic clinics at Salford Royal Hospital. Clinical information was also collected in addition to plasma and serum samples which are held in the Salford Biorepository. Ethnicity was not restricted.

The samples were collected under the leadership of Professor Martin Gibson (University of Manchester) as the basis for a range of genetic studies focussing on genetic factors that determine the development of co-morbidity, disease progression and outcome.

Collection commenced: 2002 (completed 2005)
