Genetic Studies in CKD

Ongoing studies

Prospective data collection has allowed investigation of the risk factors associated with progression of CKD; increased proteinuria has been found to be the single traditional risk factor influencing progression of chronic kidney disease on multivariate analysis. Ongoing analysis of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in a range of candidate genes are now providing data on novel risk factors for progression of CKD and presence of complications associated with CKD such as vascular disease and calcification.

Other studies include:

  • Outcome of patients with stage 3a CKD
  • Outcome of elderly patients (aged >75 years old) with CKD
  • Association of arterial pulse wave abnormalities with outcomes in CKD
