Our Research
Research within the Genomics theme focuses on identifying and characterising the genetic and environmental aetiological components of common diseases by using a wide range of molecular and genetic experimental approaches.
Research areas
Our approach is to investigate diseases at both a population and family level, particularly where longitudinal clinical data has been collected. Consequently, we collaborate extensively with other research groups within The University of Manchester and other national and international groups.
The main research areas are:
- Autoimmune and inflammatory disease genetic epidemiology
- Comparative disease genomics and animal genetics
- Molecular diabetology and nephrology
- Neurological, psychiatric and cognitive genetic epidemiology
- Quantitative genomics and transcriptomics
- STRATUM
Publications
Members of Genomics publish extensively in a wide range of both specialist
and general journals.
