The overall purpose of any biobanking project is to collate samples and data for analysis and generate research output. We have extensive experience of retrieving and distributing samples for downstream analysis such as Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS) e.g. Wellcome Trust Case Control Consortium (WTCCC) and arcOGEN, candidate gene analysis, re-sequencing projects and biomarker analysis. We use state of the art cherry-picking robotics in order to select the samples required for downstream analysis from stored samples.
CIGMR Biobank’s ‘fair access’ principle provides a framework whereby biobanking projects can promote collaboration and research output from their collections.
CIGMR Biobank’s collaboration with EBI is generating tools for secure clinical data query via the web.
