Health services research in genetics

Health services research encompasses both qualitative and quantitative programmes focused around the evaluation of genetics clinical services and the psychosocial impact of genetic disease.

Projects include:

  • Development and application of economic methods to evaluate genetics services and technologies
For further details, see: Katherine Payne's profile
  • Development of outcome measures for genetic services
  • Qualitative analysis of clinical genetics services involving close collaboration with patient groups
  • Research into barriers in accessing genetic services that exist for specific patient groups with language or cultural differences. For an example of one related project, see: Genetic Counselling information in British Sign Language

Psychosocial research programmes examine the burden of living with genetic disease including the impact of genetic testing in particular in neuropsychiatric disease.
