About us

Why the focus on trials?

Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) are critical to improving evidence-based practice, but recruitment (getting people to participate in a trial) and retention (ensuring people remain in the trial through to completion) are often problematic. Without trials, the goal of improving health through research will be hard to realise so it's important we identify ways to improve access to and experience of participating in trials. PAtient-Centred Trials (PACT) aims and objectives

Our vision is to design, deliver, implement and evaluate patient-centred trials. The objectives of PACT are to:

1. Define what we mean by a 'patient-centred trial'

2. Explore how we measure a 'patient-centred trial'

3. Develop guidance and standards to help people design and deliver a 'patient-centred trial'

4. Involve patients and the public in our work

Patient and Public Involvement will be an integral part of everything we do. If any of the terms on this website are unfamiliar please look at the INVOLVE jargon buster. If the term is not included in the jargon buster please email Claire Planner.
