CRIMSON - A randomised controlled trial of joint crisis plans for people with severe mental illness who have frequent hospital admissions

Abstract

This study seeks to find out if a Joint Crisis Plan (JCP) can significantly reduce the number of service users compulsorily treated under the Mental Health Act - JCPs aim to facilitate early detection and treatment of relapse and are developed by service users in collaboration with staff. It contains a service users’ treatment preferences in the event of any psychiatric emergency, as well as details of diagnoses, medication and allergies and mental health worker contact numbers. JCPs are not currently used within mental health services in the UK.
