Intellectual and development disorders (including autism spectrum disorders)

We currently have four main ongoing programmes of research focusing on issues relating to attachment and mindfulness in people with

• intellectual and development disorders (IDD) and their supporters;
• motor disorders in Autism and Asperger syndrome (ASD);
• sleep and circadian rhythm disorders in IDD;
• cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)-based interventions in Aspergers syndrome.

In addition, we are interested in the effects of acquired neurological damage on psychological and neurological functioning.

We are collaborating with both MICROS and the recently established inter-faculty research group, Autism@Manchester
