HPV-associate malignancies

Professor Henry Kitchener leads research focussing on the prevention and screening of cervical and anal cancers. The STRATEGIC trial will develop strategies to increase uptake of cervical screening in young women while the ANALOGY trial will determine whether similar screening strategies are feasible and acceptable for use in groups at high risk for anal cancer.

The principal research aims of Dr Ian Hampson and Dr Lynne Hampson are to increase understanding of the mechanisms of viral carcinogenesis in order to develop new approaches to the diagnosis and therapy of virus-associated malignancies.  A major current project involves the repositioning of lopinavir as a topical therapy for HPV-associated disease of the cervix.
