The Dermatopharmacology Unit
The Dermatopharmacology Unit is part of the Institute of Inflammation and Repair at The University of Manchester, and is based in the Greater Manchester Dermatology Centre at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust.
Directed by Professor Chris Griffiths, we have an international reputation for research into major skin diseases and are one of Europe's leading dermatology clinical trial units.
The interests of the group focus on the following main themes:
- Chronic skin conditions, such as psoriasis and eczema
- Ageing of the skin
- The skin immune system
- The relationship between skin conditions and psychological factors (The brain-skin axis)
Our research includes investigations to increase our understanding of skin and skin disease, and clinical trials to test new treatments.
