Endocrinology and Growth
Our research in paediatric endocrinology spans from the basic sciences, investigating mechanisms of cellular growth, through to clinical trials.
Both the Clinical NHS department and the Research team are based in the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH). The adult endocrine NHS department is also located on site within the Manchester Royal infirmary.
The Research team are based in the Centre for Paediatrics and Child Health which is on the 5th floor of RMCH / St Mary’s Hospital, co-located with the Centre for Women’s Health while the Centre for Genomic Medicine is on the 6th floor. This creates a single site environment for both University clinicians and scientists and NHS teams to investigate disorders of child health extending from the intra-uterine environment through adolescence to adulthood.
Our main research themes are:
- Growth Disorders
- Early Life Determinants of Metabolic Disease
- Bone and Vitamin D disorders
- Congenital Hyperinsulinism
