There are strong and evolving links with genetics and systems biology, so strategy is coherently link with the broader objectives of the Institute of Human Development.
Highly successful training programmes are in place including strong MSc/MPhil courses. There has been considerable success in developing clinical and non-clinical academics and they have obtained externally funded fellowships from the MRC, NIHR and Fight for Sight.
A key to success has been strong links both within the University, e.g. to the Centre for Genomic Medicine and Faculty of Life Sciences, to Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and to other leading UK and international research groupings.
