Congratulations to Mr Hani Essa, Intercalating Medical Student, on receiving a Core/Dr Falk Student Bursary 2014. This award will be presented at a reception following the Core Symposium at the British Society of Gastroenterology (BS) Annual Meeting on 18 June 2014.
Dr Anne Kennedy (on behalf of the multi-university team, Universities of Southampton, Manchester, Keele and York) was proud and pleased to accept a Research Paper of the Year award from the Royal College of General Practitioners at the ceremony held on 2nd October 2014 at the RCGP Annual Conference in Liverpool. Anne said "In one of the largest randomised controlled trials of self-management in primary care conducted internationally we have provided strong evidence to challenge the taken for granted assumption that primary care is a place where self-management support happens. The trial provides evidence that self-management support is not currently doable in primary care. The successful but negative trial has importance and relevance for what is appropriate to base in primary care and what is better provided elsewhere".
Dr Emilia Michou was asked to write an online article on rehabilitation for dysphagia:
"Stroke side effects tackled by Salford and Manchester scientists"
