Pharmacy Integration Fund Evalution

CPWS, in collaboration with ICF, have been commissioned by National Health Service in England (NHSE) to evaluate Pharmacy Integration Fund (PhIF) funded learning pathways.  These aim to upskill the pharmacists and pharmacy technicians so that they can practise with an advanced scope of practice within a range of primary care settings.

Our evaluation aims to investigate whether pharmacy professionals undergoing PhIF training gain the skills required to expand their roles in a range of primary care settings, and whether these upskilled pharmacy professionals have the opportunities to apply their advanced skills and impact practice.

How you can help:

We are recruiting learners, supervisors and employers for telephone interviews.

If you are a PhIF funded learner, then please complete our survey: ICF website

If you are interested in being involved, then please contact Ellen Schafheutle (ellen.schafheutle@manchester.ac.uk) or phif@icf.com

Or please access the ICF website for further information.

Methodology:

Setting: Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians undertaking PhIF learning while working in primary care: urgent care, care homes, secure environments (prisons), community pharmacy

Method: five work packages (WPs):

- WP1: Scoping phase with wide stakeholder engagement

- WP2: Secondary dataset analysis (learner enrolment, course length, attrition)

- WP3: Longitudinal survey (motivations, perceived benefits of learning, workplace support, extended scope of practice)

- WP4: Qualitative semi-structured interviews to explore learners’ (pharmacists/ pharmacy technicians), employers’ and clinical/education supervisors’ and other stakeholders’ views and experience on impact of training on practice

- WP 5: Cost-benefit analysis

This project will complete March 2021.
